Tailgating tents

canopyAs football season quickly approaches, many of us will fill our college alma mater campuses in anticipation of the big kickoff. But there is one thing as is arguably more important than the actual game itself, and that is the tailgate. With careful planning on Friday night, we pack up our trucks and SUV’s with all of the gear we’ve been gathering and purchasing in anticipation of the most epic tailgate ever. The portable grill, burgers, hotdogs, chips and salsa, the chairs, the coolers and beverages. We wake up early on Saturday morning to get to the stadium before everyone else in the hopes of getting a good parking spot and setting up our tailgate. We park the car, begin setting up, and at that moment we realize we forgot the most important thing one can possibly bring to a tailgate, the canopy tent. Don’t let this be you. A tailgating canopy tent is without a doubt the most important thing you can bring to a tailgate, and let me tell you why.

First, they are the most effective insurance policy you can have to protect your tailgate. In the middle of hurricane season for most SEC schools and unpredictable weather across the country, the early football season is filled with inclement weather. Rain can ruin even the best tailgates that don’t have a pop up shelter. No one wants to sit around in pouring rain hours before the game even starts. And let’s talk about the food. All that preparation in setting up the grill and tables is now in doubt because a little rain ruined everything. The second reason you’ll want an instant pop up canopy tent at your tailgate is because September is only a month removed from August, typically the hottest month of the year. A typical tailgate can last from 3-10 hours depending on game time. That’s a long time being exposed to a hot sun. Protect yourself, your family, your friends, and if you’re nice, the group of fans next to you that are getting sunburn because they forgot one. Between heat exhaustion, sunburn, and dehydration; a little shade can go a long way in helping you make it to game time. The last reason to bring a tailgate tent is one that many people do not think of, and that is space. A canopy tent provides a physical boundary to your tailgate. Cars are often ushered into parking lots with minimal spacing in between. We have found that people tend to overrun their real estate if they have more than a few friends and family. If you want to maximize your space, set up a pop up tent and protect your tailgate from the encroaching neighbors. We also recommend adding a side wall to your tailgate tent in case you get stuck next to those rival fans. No one wants to look at those opposing colors all day long!
